A Riddle That Will Kill Your Brain

Someone sent this to me since July and I would periodically look at it to no avail. I know some smart person's out there that will have the answer just like that.
========================

There are three words in the English language that end in "gry". ONE is angry and the other is hungry. EveryONE knows what the third ONE means and what it stands for. EveryONE uses them everyday, and if you listened very carefully, I've given you the third word. What is it? _______gry

Hey! Is it thuggry???!!! Is thuggry even a word or a derivative, which we colloquially invented?

@ anon - do resist. Do I detect frustration in 'tangry'?

jintagry dear, how are you doing? do solve this puzzlegry fast before we all grow tumour in our brains!
my colleague is sleeping in the office, and he is snoring the answer away:
'grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyy!!!!!!!'

Jinta said...

@ florida - you think I know? We dey the same boat
@ cat'gry - the prize is a ministerial position so we can propagate corruption
@ sha - seems correct, but i dont know where the gry comes in - this has got me confused
@ afro - your determination comes to the fore again: let me know how your head feels, for the strain
@ omosewa - ministerial position for you too.
@ isi - 'fraid I don't know the answer. I did an Omosewa and peeked into dictionary.com, which says 'gry' is a little unit of something or a small measure of the other, that's fine; however, the answer also says 'language' (see sha's response), and this closely matches the riddle in that 'we use it every day'. But where's the gry in language?

Jinta now...i have used 2 hrs of my work time to try and crack this madness. i deserved a reward for attempting to solve it. Since "attempted murder' gets jail time, i deserve a reward...abi.

for real, wat is the freaking answer?

Jinta said...

@ ondlow - lol. I 'hands up'. Believe me, I don't know.

ok, i don't think that there is a right answer...
having said that, possibilities are...
1) agree--- spelling is totally disregarded.
2) synergy or energy, etc--- the order of the letters are disregarded.

what do y'all think?

How is language the right answer? i dont get it

LMAO at Catwalqgry

Jinta what is the answer now?!

Joy Isi Bewaji said...

ok! let me tell u what i could make out of it:

'gry' as used in pronunciation would include angry, hungry, and 'agree'. alot of people would have thought of it as a word instead of prononciation; this makes it what it is- a riddle (a baffling problem, a mystery, test of ingenuity).

then from another angle, if u ask someone to give the 'gry' answer and u say:
"what is the third word in 'THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE'"
you could either mistake this meaning to provide a third 'gry' word; but what the puzzle means is the third word in 'THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE' is.......LANGUAGE!

its a riddle so it comes with the normal twists. lol!

@ 4ward - yoy totally lost me there
@ ms. emmotions - you hit it right on the head, yours truly-gry
@ allied - same boat as you, but see Prof. Isi's explanation
@ 30+ - you have to cast your gaze towars isi for the answer, my brain refused to expand that much.
@ isi - beauty and brains. Potent combination
@ onome - I'm right at your side
